This project was primarily concerned with the delineation of issues related to the drain rate of medium through banana screens as the screen deck aperture varied, in particular below 1.0mm. Comparisons with existing sieve bend / low head combination technology were also required to enable benchmarking of the banana screen classification mechanism.
The primary project objectives can be summarised as follows:
- Development of a method for measuring the drainage rates of medium off product D&R screens (either low head screens or banana screens).
- Measurement of the performance of banana screens, as used in D&R applications, compared to traditional low head screens.
- Development of design criteria that will improve the performance of banana screens in the drain and rinse application.
- Completion of industry surveys on current banana screening practice and design aspects.
Several correlations of varying significance were observed. In most cases these relationships should be viewed in conjunction with the full data set or other related data. However, for the purposes of summarising the project outcomes, findings, conclusions and recommendations, this section has been compiled.
A full review of the various sections and the associated data is strongly recommended to gain a full appreciation of the relationships involved. The summary is intended to generally follow the project objectives format, stated above.
