This report addresses a commissioned roadway development project that set out to improve mining efficiency and reduced production costs. The scope of the project was to improve roadway development and safety performance with the introduction of a new technology integrated mining system.
The system would integrate mining, roof support, ventilation, supply and haulage.
The recommendations highlight general and specific project failure outcomes. The industry must improve:
- project fundamentals;
- continue to address an integrated development system; and
- pursue those elements of the trial that were successful.
