Underground » Ventilation, Gas Drainage and Monitoring
This planning guideline has been prepared to assist mine operators to apply a best practice approach to ventilation and gas drainage planning. It has been prepared on the basis that there is room for improvement and more consistency in the process of developing and maintaining ventilation plans to support operations in achieving safe, efficient and productive outcomes.
A management systems approach is advocated to ensure that all aspects of the planning process are given adequate attention and that best practice compliance can be confirmed. The guideline includes recommendations for a stepwise roadmap for both ventilation and gas drainage planning as well as compliance and audit tools.
There is no one right way of ventilation planning, but the principles embodied in this guideline, if applied, are likely to deliver reliable planning results.
