Coal Preparation » Gravity Separation
The project had two main objectives, the first to provide residence times for density tracers in the different flow streams of the correct medium circuit. From these residence times, the lags associated with the coal and correct medium movements will be determined for use in a dynamic model.
Secondly, a repeat experiment was performed with 32 mm tracers and 13 mm RFID tracers to determine if the unexpected differences where the 13 mm tracers produced a lower separation size (cut point or RD50) than the 32 mm tracers was repeatable or a one off situation.
The data in this report shows the residence times recorded from various points around the dense medium cyclone feed and medium circuits including information as to how different densities behave and the repeat of the tracer tests with 13 mm RFID tracers and 32 mm tracers. The test duplicated the results previously found.
