Coal Preparation » General
As the sole purpose of this project was to raise awareness of ACARP coal preparation research by plant visits there is no report. An A4 size pdf of the poster used during the 2014 visit can be downloaded here.
In 2003 the ACARP Coal Preparation Committee, in discussing the absorption of ACARP funded research into the industry, expressed concerns that the results of this research were not widely known. To remedy this situation it was decided to design a poster highlighting some more successful projects. This poster would delivered to the coal preparation plants by Peter Newling who is the Research Coordinator for the committee. Peter would also generally explain ACARP's function, the channels of communication available and some current and completed work.
As the 5 previous field promotion trips were well received, the committee decided to support a further round of visits. This tour was carried out from early June through to early November. Each site was left with a package of handouts of recent work and a DVD containing the ACARP project reports up to April 2014.
During the time the tour was undertaken there was considerable change in the industry due to a sharp fall in coal demand and price. At many sites cost cutting was being implemented and in many cases reduction in staff.
