This project was an extension project to ACARP Project C20050 Linkage of Dynamic Changes in DMC Circuits to Plant Conditions. The project also provided necessary data for the ACARP PhD student, Nerrida Scott, for her thesis, Dynamic Analysis of Dense Medium Circuits.
The project examines events that occur following operator instigated changes in plant variables such as the water control valve for density control, the bleed to the dilute medium sump, magnetite addition and feed rate. The effect of these changes on the correct medium sump level, correct medium density, density of the overflow medium, density of the underflow medium, non-magnetics in the correct medium, the estimated values of cut point, differential, and mass rate to overflow are examined. Events that may cause DMC cyclone instability are detailed and different methods employed when changing the density of the correct medium examined. A table is included showing the main cause and effects for clarity.
The original stage report and this extension report are combined.
