The DOZERTRAK system uses a laser guided tracking theodolite or GPS to determine the position of a moving target attached to a dozer. The positional information is combined with other sensors and processed by an on-board computer to determine the position of the cutting edge of the blade. The .... read more

The raw ash content of coal is an important parameter for determining coal quality and a number of techniques have been developed in the past for measurement in-situ, before mining (in boreholes or at the coal face) or after mining (on conveyor belts). These techniques are becoming more and .... read more

This project commenced in February 1999 with the objective of developing a general-purpose PC-based software tool to evaluate the performance of the complete mine-plant-shipping coal chain.
The tool estimates the loss and dilution resulting from using different mining methods under .... read more

The coal mining industry is reliant on forecasting and monitoring of coal resources and reserves. Geological uncertainty and risk impact heavily upon coal resource assessments, reserve forecasts and long-term planning. Reliability and confidence, transparency and technical defendability are .... read more
|Author: Guy Le Blanc Smith | CSIRO Exploration & Mining |
The aim of this project was to build an accessible quantitative three-dimensional (3D) visual information model of the Rangal Coal Measures structure from existing site data. This project targeted the southern mining areas in the vicinity of Blackwater and northwards to Middlemount. This .... read more
