What is ACARP?

The Australian Coal Industry’s Research Program.

Coal mining in Australia has become more efficient, safer and more productive. Serious occupational health issues have been resolved and many environmental and social impacts of mining have been addressed thanks to the Australian coal industry’s research program, ACARP. The Australian coal industry is one of the most technologically advanced in the world and ACARP has played an integral role in that achievement.

Although the achievements are too numerous to list, together we have led the field in longwall automation which removes personnel from hazardous areas, boosts productivity and improves longwall availability. We have engaged community members to help us develop criteria and address our mine rehabilitation work. We have developed diesel vehicles that are safe to use in all underground situations.

We have also supported large research centres that are addressing climate change issues related to coal.

ACARP has been at the forefront of technical excellence and coal industry research since it was established in 1992.

How to Purchase Reports

Availability of ACARP reports is determined by your relationship with the Australian Coal Industry.

  • All published project reports are available to Australian coal producers and Australian researchers and other service providers to the Australian Coal Industry and Australian Educational Institutions ( categories 1 and 2)
  • International requests or from outside the Australian Coal Industry: Only requests for reports to do with safety, environment and Mine Site Greenhouse Mitigation will be filled. (category 3)

Reports are available as downloads only.

When you select your report you will be asked to indicate your level of involvement:

Australian based Black Coal Producer (ACARP Levy Contributor)
